Back to school, the sun setting a few minutes earlier each day, and the approach of Labor Day — all things that signal that summer is coming to an end. For many of us, though, it’s still warm (or dare I say, hot!) outside, so it’s not quite time to pull out big sweaters and faux fur. But, it’s definitely time to start mixing in some fall elements to your look.
Choose warmer colors – think gold, orange, camel and olive greens – to start your transition. You can still wear your lighter fabrics, just pair them in a way that looks more more fall than spring.
Another easy way to start pulling some fall into your summer look is with accessories. Change out your summer bag now into something that’s more fall-like but not a heavy winter bag. Choose a snakeprint bag in a warm color, like the Faye bag from Chloe. The soft mustard tone is reminiscent of the fall leaves starting to turn, and the gold hardware is the perfect accent.
An open-toed boot is another one of my favorite transition looks, as you get the feel of a great fall boot without a full enclosed shoe. This suede mule from Tom Ford is exceptionally versatile, making it the ideal choice for pants, skinny jeans and dresses.
